Even though i am redeemed by Jesus, until I enter into God’s eternal kingdom, I still live in a body that is corrupted by sin’s nature. My spirit was joined to od’s Spirt when I confessed my sins and asked for forgiveness. But there is still a war that wages against God within my flesh. In simplest terms, it is my flesh trying to maintain control over me verses m spirit, with the help of the Holy Spirit, wanting to produce a godly character in me.

It’s a battle waged between the flesh and the spirit as they are contrary to one another.

The war discussed is the battle between the flesh and the spirit, each side wanting man to fall to its way and each being opposed to the other so that there is no compromise between the two.
-
The “war” is the conflict between the direction the Spirit is leading me in vs the pull of my human desires.

1. To walk in/with/by the Spirit or to follow legalism or the desires of the flesh.
2. The evil powers of this world will use our carnal desires to tempt us. Just as those evil powers tempted Jesus in the desert using his physical hunger, man’s need for power, and rebellion against God’s will.
3. The Holy Spirit is in/with/by us to bring us the tools we need to shun the temptation and release the fruits of the spirit.-
I have a “sting” in my flesh. It was forged from the lack of love and acceptance during my formation years. I easily fall into the temptation of binge eating (to soothe my anxiety) or binge spending (to feel powerful when I think I am helpless.) However, now The Holy Spirit is in/with/by me to lead me into a better life style (green pastures.) I must take time to listen to my spirit, my true self, so that I can hear the Holy Spirit’s voice. One step at a time, he will show me the way out of the temptation and into freedom.
