Is mentorship something you’ve considered as part of your role as a Christian educator? Why or why not?

Yes. Students will look to us as examples and for answers. We can mentor the student in the ways of the Lord by giving them a desire to live that way through the example we set. We also can mentor students spiritually through a Biblical worldview and sound truth of the Bible.

Mentorship is not something I have recently considered just because as an educator, there is a line that you have to be careful of when it comes to crossing over from a academic relationship to a social relationship. I find this can be my worry when it comes to selecting a student in your own course to mentor. However I could see it to ne more of a possibility for past students of yours to be the ones you would consider to mentor or students on sports teams that you may coach, etc. My mind could definitely change on this too.

Yes, I have considered doing a Bible study for young girls and provide a safe place for them to share their concerns and receive mentorship. It has not come together yet but I am praying about it.

Mentorship has not been something I have considered, but having listened to the lesson, I now think that mentorship can provide me with an opportunity to contribute to my students’ academic and spiritual maturity.

Yes. I have had 3 student teachers work along side me in my career and I like to think I am working on reaching out to my students not just as a classroom teacher providing content but as a person who is available to listen to them whenever they want to talk. I have a couple of study halls where it is easy to make this happen.
