Is mentorship something you’ve considered as part of your role as a Christian educator? Why or why not?

Absolutely! I think it even goes beyond mentoring our students. I believe we can also learn and grow from our fellow Christian teachers. I have dear colleagues that I love dearly who encourage me throughout the year. They always seem to know when to send a Bible Verse or devotion that is just what I need to hear.

Yes. Discipleship and mentoring are arguably synonymous terms.

I feel that mentorship is a big part of my role as a Christian educator. I have told my students from the time they’ve left my kindergarten course that I am always here please come back and visit please come if you ever need anything along with expressing those same principles to their parents. Just this last year I had a mother reach out to me her son is going to Notre Dame and he was working on a project
Of how to set up a school. She called and asked if I would be willing to talk to him and I said always, he reached out we had multiple conversations and I sent him one of my first projects that I created when I went and took courses to be the Director of an early childhood education center. I think that I got more out of him coming to me and me being able to help him than he will ever know. -
Absolutely. We have the opportunity to influence the next generation and as a Christian educator, we can influence them for Christ.

I definitely think that mentorship is something that all educators should consider as important. Not all students come from solid two parent homes. Sometimes their teachers are some of the few reliable and consistent trusted adults that are in their lives. We should never take that role for granted.
