Is mentorship something you’ve considered as part of your role as a Christian educator? Why or why not?

Yes, definitely. I love having opportunities to serve others and to teach the children to do the same.

This is an interesting question because for all the intentional things I have done on behalf of students and their families, perhaps I never considered it was mentoring. I suppose reflecting on it now, it actually is – but it is part of who I am just naturally. I find that I work better (or maybe I just think that right now, not sure…) with younger students and their families. The students are so eager to learn at the younger ages and literally take in everything you teach them. I think of 1 Timothy 4:12 and I teach this at home too: “Let no one look down on you because of your youth, but be an example and set a pattern for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in moral purity. ” I realize as I am going through this training segment that this is probably something I miss most about education. I have taught both early education in a Christian School setting and taught in public school. I am realizing the pieces I am missing lie in needing to teach in a Christian School. I am praying that God will help me find a position somewhere soon.

I havent considered it until now. As a first time teacher I have been focused on grasping academic knowledge but now totally look forward to incorporating mentorship.

I have not consider that as of this year, but it is something I would definitely love to do!

I mentor many students in a discipleship group. I think that the Bible calls us to mentor those younger than us and it is a really great way to speak into the lives of your students.
