Yes, I believe it is important to be a mentor for your students to help guide them through their educational journey. Being there for your students and providing the support is crucial.

Mentorship is something that I have considered as a Christian educator. I feel that God has chosen us for this calling and we have to take it seriously. Mentoring a student on the right path will lead the student to achieve great heights and in turn, the student will be able to bring out a positive outlook in society.

My role as school administration put me firmly in the mentorship area. Leaders in the role of disciplinarian should always strive extra hard to develop the most positive relationship possible with their students. A lack of that relationship makes discipline virtually impossible. That relationship also often blossoms into mentorship with the found respect of authority.

I have seen it as part of my role, but being a new teacher I did not necessarily feel like I had a capacity yet to be doing that and getting all the academic work done. I hope as I move forward to grow in this area.
