Monotheism – My children enjoy the television series, Torch Lighters, which retells the stories of Christian missionaries in history that served the One True God and shared Jesus Christ within a particular tribe, nation, language or people group.
Deism – I believe we saw evidence of Deist belief in American culture during the Coronavirus pandemic. Some people demonstrated a complete trust and faith in the Coronavirus vaccines’ ability to heal and protect, while some people attacked and demonized those who refused vaccination by trusted in the One True God’s power to protect and heal (i.e., God’s ability to intervene in our lives).
Naturalism – I believe an example of Naturalism could be found in the movie, Planet of The Apes, in which actual apes move beyond their limited animal abilities and are able to communicate, reason, and lead others like humans.
Existentialism – I think an example of existentialism could be the American Dream. The belief that one’s own efforts, through hard work and persistence, without any influence from our True God or other gods, is the sole reason why an individual achieves a certain level of success. Furthermore, existentialist believe they are the sole authority and captains of their own destiny.
Nihilism – An Nihilist is essentially an atheist. An individual that does not believe in or acknowledge a God or gods, and further believes we each create our won values.
Pantheism – Modern Hindus and Buddhists are essentially pantheist. God is everywhere and everything.
