Looking at the three do’s , the one I tend not to do is the reflective thinking, depending on the struggle that the person is sharing, I feel I need to say something so he or she does not think that you don’t care or not interested but after this lecture, I have learnt that it is important to think and reflects and know what is going on in your own life and your friends life as he shares his struggles with you.

The three don’ts, I always find my self offering support because I feel that what that person need at that time is some one that we show empathy and some care. And I also believe that the person needs prayer. Through this lecture I have learnt that this is not going to solve the problem.

Of the 3 basic don’ts, I tend toward offering support and affirmations–to serve as a type of emotional “cheerleader” when someone is struggling. I think I do this as though my positivity about them could serve to strengthen them and improve their morale. Of the 3 basic do’s the one I tend not to do is think reflectively—I don’t take enough time to truly absorb what I am hearing–or I rush to fill the silence with my responses and thoughts to what the person just said.

I tended to offer prayer prematurely.
I do not listen attentively, often, my mind sometimes going to somewhere else– used to.

Backing away is one of the “don’t s” in soulcare that I am guilty of because of being afraid of saying or doing the wrong thing instead of depending on the spirit of God
