The Bible is the objective foundation of all truth. Just as we teach that mathematical rules cannot change over time, we also must teach our students that moral rules cannot change. What God has established as truth, we need to impart to our youth. The “moral absolutism vs moral relativism” is a conversation that should be held repeatedly as a child is educated in a Christian environment.

Some practical ways as a Christian educator are prioritizing dialogue and critical thinking, as well as emphasizing the lived experience of faith.

I can be more intentional about allowing my students to know why God created us, how he created us and what He has called us to be. This is to daily reinforce their understanding about who they really are. This would help them not get caught in the web of confusion going on in the world. I could also be more intentional about letting them see what the scripture says by projecting it on the board and not just saying it by heart, so that they are aware it’s God’s word.

I regularly incorporate biblical truths into my lessons so as to provide students with a foundation of absolute truth. Emphasizing that God’s Word is the ultimate source of knowledge and wisdom, even when societal norms suggest otherwise.
I teach my students to evaluate ideas critically by comparing them against biblical principles.
I share my own beliefs and values with them, explaining how they align with God’s truth.
