It may be helpful to have both teacher and students frequently share how God’s word is at work in their lives, i.e., testimonies of answered prayers, or how a memorized verse influenced a situation or relationship. On-going reflection about God’s involvement in our experiences can help to build faith and knowing that His truth is real.

I can use the Word of God as the authority to knowing the truth about our existence, and not allowing students to simply accept what the world believes. It can also be helpful to use examples of how science science proves that the Word is true, such as seeing evidence that Noah’s Ark existed, how God created the rainbow as a reminder of His promise to mankind.

It would be to use Scripture to defend the truth of God.

We need to remember that God’s word is true. Christ is The Way, The Truth and The Life. It may be difficult but we can and should remind our students, staff, friends and neighbors that there is no such thing as your truth and my truth. Truth is real and should be proclaimed. Also, we must remember to be salt and light.

This is indeed a challenge in the classroom every day. The prevailing life view of my students seems to be “what I believe is the only thing that matters and if you don’t agree with it then you are wrong.” My greatest concern is what I hear coming from their mouths is what their parents espouse at home. The only way to respond to this is with what God says, but in a loving manner that doesn’t come across as authoritative and with no room for discussion. At some point, God’s Word has got to become their own words too.
