Its significant to us today because, even though in the Old Testament God spoke to Israel, now we are all God’s people and when we fail it’s good to know that our God is a forgiving, loving and always ready to extend another opportunity for us to return to Him. A lot of us have played the prodigal son role or some will play that role, but when we return our heavenly Father is always willing to forgive.

I think it shows that, while He demands respect and our obedience, He is most patient and merciful, never giving up on us.

It is amazing to think God wants a relationship with such a prideful and sinner like me. Thanks be to Christ Jesus who has ransomed me to repair that relationship.

God does not change. He still loves us and wants a relationship with us. John 3:16

Because God continues to be a God of redemption and love toward His people. His ultimate goal is relationship with us which has been granted to us through Christ’s death and resurrection.
