My son recently told me about a discussion in his course on American figures. They read short biographies on men like Benjamin Franklin, Damiel Boone or Sacajawea and discuss their character traits alongside biblical ideas. How did their lives reflect God’s character or maybe some ways they acted sinfully and against God’s Word? I love that they are learning about these people but not as one-dimensional characters that only had admirable qualities; that sets up unrealistic ideals and goals for students that know where they struggle.
