If I were teaching the American Revolution, I would ask students to first consider the Old Testament idea of why God warned to Israelites that they would not want a king. This same concept seems to permeate why the students all of the sudden can understand why the Americans resisted. Within that, they also need to consider the command to “Render unto Caesar.” How do those two ideas reconcile what we believe about the American Revolution as a Christian nation?

One example is where I had students examine songs from popular culture. In this activity students needed to identify what themes and worldviews was the song promoting. Students needed to analyze and reflect over these ideas with evidence from the songs.

A “Servant Leadership” lesson where students study Jesus washing the disciples’ feet, discuss the concept of humility, and then participate in a service project, such as writing encouraging notes for others, to practice serving with a Christ-like attitude.

Use biblical integration in the classroom. In Anatomy we we look at the crucifixion through an anatomical lens. This helps students visualize and study this event more in depth.
