I teach art. parent(s) who are artistic in nature, can use their skills when I am setting up for arts how. Another way, they can also serve as a judge or judges in any art competition organize in the school.

One way that parents may use their skill sets in our school is to lead a group of children either through a mentor program or a tutoring program during classroom time. Another idea is to host a family school lunch where parents can come in and have lunch with their student once a quarter.

I think simply inviting parents into the classroom more often (ie: whenever we have an end of the term party, a presentation, etc.) will help them feel more included in their child’s education. Furthermore, to also be aware of their jobs or skill sets, find opportunities to connect them to the lessons learned in course, and to invite them into the classroom to speak or share on that topic.

I hope to use more parent surveys over the coming year. We have used one to set the date for graduation next year.
Another way is to allow parents to come in during career days to discuss their skills and how they found careers through them
