I really love the idea of a coffee shop type area that could be organized by the parents, but also provide an outlet for them to be able to gather with like-minded parents. Teachers could join during planning times and get to know the parents and what their strengths and talents are. These, in turn, could be used in the school over time when needs arise.

I could have parents who are artistic design bulletins boards based on materials (posters and trim) on hand. I also could find a seamstress or tailor who can replace the broken blinds with a large curtain, for those who are skilled at working fabric.

I am going to be teaching a money management class in the fall. I would love to bring some parents in during our career planning unit to talk about and share tips focused on their different careers.

I could have them be a guest instructor for a day, which would benefit them in giving them a chance to use their skills and would also benefit them to have the opportunity to experience the classroom life of their student.
