I have some parents that are engineers. I have thought about asking them if they wanted to come in and talk to my class about the importance of math. Not only would it get the parents more involved, it will show the students that the stuff we are learning will be used in the future.

It would be great if the parents that know how to play musical instruments could help teach students. Also, there is a need for more assistance with the theater / drama program. There is no support currently for this. The program is closed right now for lack of support financially and in othe ways.

I can assign a project where students have to discuss/research with their parents about Creation vs Evolution. Through this project, both students and parents can work together to find answers found in the Bible and in scientific discoveries.

A parent who works as a financial advisor can be invited to give a short lesson as a guest speaker on topics such as saving, budgeting, spending, and investing. Information presented to students can support the Economics and Personal Finance classes.

I’ve had parents come to play bluegrass music for students. Others have done science projects. And, the all important costume designers and artistic work for programs!
