This statement gives me confidence in God. It changes my perspective. It takes the focus off me and puts it onto an active curiosity about the other person and God’s ability to use any exposed truth to transform the other person’s perspective about their journeying reality. This gives the Holy Spirit freedom to act.
When I think I’m out of my depth, I’m not, because God is doing the work. I only need to stay true to him myself and move towards the vision for this person. The I need to let him do what my vision tells me he wants to do and stay out of the way.

Flesh surrendered, spirit-led curiousity is in its nature dependent upon the Holy Spirit to be sustainable. Therefore, it is inherent that what is revealed can withstand its revelation as it is what the Spirit has guided the conversation towards.

Believing that curiosity will never uncover what grace cannot handle takes the stress and pressure off in helping another person on their journey. It brings us to the place of relying on the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and the power of God as the only source and real source to effect change. All things are possible with God. If we trust Him and lean not to our own understanding, God promises to direct our path. He promised us in His word that He will help us, provide us with the guidance and solutions needed for the situations we encounter on our journey. God’s grace is truly sufficient and amazing.

I know in my personal experience with attempting to help others, when I got them to open up and I could see what the deeper problem was, I felt uncomfortable with the deeper problem because it was either something I had never experienced before and I felt un equipped with the knowledge of experience to understand what they were going through or it was a problem that I was still currently going through and had no answers to give. which as I’ve learned in this course wasn’t how to do soul care at all. Now seeing the truth that I will never uncover something that grace could not handle and the state of this persons soul is not reliant on my experience or education, make curiosity seem less scary. God is equipped so I don’t need to be. I just need to check my intentions and invite the Holy Spirit in.

God is always up to good. Perhaps he will use my curiosity to open something in the other person, expose it so he can wrestle with it with God. Or perhaps he will use my inadequacy to show me things he wants to work on in me. Or the same may happen through my internal reaction to the person’s journeying reality.

So, I can ask. I can listen without having to make wise comments, connect, even really understand all that is going on. It is very OK to not understand and then to ask further questions. It is OK to have a next conversation because there is more to explore and more time for thinking in between.

And I can (with the Spirit) handle all kinds of answers to my questions. He will guide me and form me and the other person as w journey together.
