I’d like to expand the degree to which I discuss worldview and philosophy in connection with literature. First steps to that end are reviewing the relevant sections in MacCullough, Knight, and Sires; and taking time to think through my current units to consider where I might integrate the content; and starting to collect scripture references that would fit well with the added content.

I want to discover what other attributes of God we can see in math (other than order). I believe that read his word looking for these characteristics and having concrete examples that can be used in math lessons are two good steps I can take to have a more biblically integrated math course.

One goal that I have is to spend more time studying Scripture so that I am growing in my walk with the Lord. As I study God’s Word, I need to ask the Holy Spirit to give me opportunities and wisdom to integrate these truths into the lessons that I am teaching. One specific strategy is to put my Quiet Time on my calendar, just like I put my courses and tutoring sessions on my calendar.

I would like to teach my students how to discern what is God’s will and what is the way of the world. Things I need to do to make this happen are I too need to be in the word of God more. I need to be listening for areas my students are struggling and find verses that can help them. I also want to get a group of teacher friends that I meet with once or twice a month to hold me accountable, and make sure I am making biblically integrated lessons. We can even share with each other ideas we have been using so we can help each other grow.

I’d like to be more aware of the underlying message of the lessons that we do in course. This means that I will have to pay more attention to the deeper worldview, and then make the ties to Biblical values, and then help the students to make those ties on their own.
