I personally like to ask God in prayer to lead me where to begin. Sometimes I’ll flip to a random page & just begin reading there, asking God to help me gain from it what He wants me to know. I also follow certain pastors on Youtube (like, Mike Winger, Dr. John Barnett, Paul Washer, to name a few) in my personal time and will flip to verses along with them, soaking in the lesson. Lastly, bible study with others in fellowship at church is always helpful. I always learn something new or see things from a unique angle when I’m following along in study with someone else.

I have a routine that I follow every morning. I take a shower, make my coffee, and sit on the couch for my time n the word. I pick a book of the Bible that I will read a chapter from each morning until the book is finished then I move on to another. I use Biblegateway.com.

I have often done Bible studies with groups at church. Before I went back to work, I would attend Bible studies at multiple churches so I was able to study many areas of the Bible in a structured way. I have also done Bible studies on my own, but I find the groups really give me the accountability that helps me to get really involved.

I like to be involved in women’s Bible studies through my church. We have used different ones but Precepts is my favorite. I also read a variety of daily devotion books. However, I find it difficult to discipline myself to study the Bible on my own so I like being part of a group to keep me on track and accountable.

I have really enjoyed taking courses with the ODBU. My favorites have been the individual book studies. This helped me to dive deep into many books that I had previously just skimmed over. Another thing that I have done to grow spiritually is to listen to the Bible. I have done a 90 study to read through the Bible. I have done this several times with different translations. It only takes 15-20 minutes a days. This gives a good overview of the Bible as a whole. I found that I did not truly understand what it meant to meditate on God’s word until doing this.
