I found reading the verse to be memorized loud severally until it sticks.

I do not have any techniques right now. When I was younger I just tried to read straight through the Bible. Now that I am older, I am starting back from the beginning and going through the Zondervan Illustrated Bible Background Commentary. I am finding it really intriguing as it is giving me tidbits of history as I move along. I have always been very fascinated with history, so I find this very helpful in my reading and gaining a better understanding of the Word.

I read the scripture at first then go over it the second times meditating and reflecting it in-line with my life. I also use bible concordance to help me study.

I recently discovered Abide, an app on my phone to start the day. Daily devotions, medication and sections of the Bible help set me on a positive path soon after I wake up. I also have used footnotes in my ESV or NIV bible to provide food for thought as I read over familiar verses.
