Entering into this upcoming school year, one goal I have is to foster relationships with my students, so that I can shepherd and mentor them in faith and love. I hope by doing this I can pass down both values and truth to the next generation. I also want to make sure that parents feel fully supported within my role and in the school. Students and families alike should have a joy when coming to the Christian Schools and I want to help in the building of that as much as I can this next year and many years to come.

I want to solidify my calling as a Christian school educator, to really understand how God wants me to use my giftings in this setting. We do lots of biblical integration in my classroom, but this course has made me think about more intentionality in my lesson plans, especially in math where it’s harder to make natural connections.

As a technology teacher, I haven’t been much focused on integrating a Biblical worldview. That’s going to be one of my focuses for the next year–communicating to students what coding, robotics, and computers have to do with God and faith. Also, with only seeing my students twice a week next year, I will need to be intentional in building relationships with them.

One of the things I have learned and been challenged with is tying everything back to scripture. That occurs during the planning time and being deliberate in what is taught each day. I found myself being challenged to have more interactive lessons with the students. Make sure that they are a part of the lesson and in doing so they are likely to remember and comprehend the lesson.

At least one thing I learned in this course that will change my approach in the classroom is the necessity of teaching all subjects from a biblical worldview. In particular, Dr. Black’s discussion about the Biblical Integrating Core Model was very helpful and applicable for me in thinking about how to teach and model biblical truth in all content areas. I look forward to implementing this model to help my students see and savor the glory of Jesus Christ.
