As I started teaching, I was most concerned that students would grasp and apply content knowledge. After being in the classroom for a few years and listening to these lectures, I am sure that I want to be more open to the students, to sacrifice my time to be available to pray with and for them. I will try to reach out more to individual students throughout the day and pray more frequently.

In this course I learned that I will make sure to look at my scope and sequence and make sure it is biblically integrated across all content areas. I will also make sure to build strong relationships with my students to help them grow spiritually and academically.

Intention really sticks out to me! Intention about biblical integration into every aspect of the curriculum as well as intentional connection with my students.

The one thing that was really pressed into me is the role of a Christian educator to come along side the parents to support them in raising their child. I have previously taught in a public school, and the role of a teacher there is very much that the parents need to get onboard with what the school is doing. Scripture tells us that the family is where the faith instruction needs to start and that parents are responsible for instructing their children in their faith. As Christian educators we need to respect that authority and support the family with including Biblical teachings in everything we do. It is a different mindset and approach to teach at a Christian school (in respect to the role of the family). I also appreciated Ellen speaking about how we are educating children for eternity. The Lord is using us to point these students to salvation, glorifying God, and teaching them to use their gifts to bring honor to the Lord.

There are many things that this course has taught me that I will implement for the upcoming school year. I will be more intentional with my lesson plans to tie everything back to Him and his Glory. I will also be more intentional with my students as my role in helping them become disciples of Christ. I will also talk with administration about upcoming mission trips and my role in helping with that.
