As a technology teacher, I haven’t been much focused on integrating a Biblical worldview. That’s going to be one of my focuses for the next year–communicating to students what coding, robotics, and computers have to do with God and faith. Also, with only seeing my students twice a week next year, I will need to be intentional in building relationships with them.

One of the things I have learned and been challenged with is tying everything back to scripture. That occurs during the planning time and being deliberate in what is taught each day. I found myself being challenged to have more interactive lessons with the students. Make sure that they are a part of the lesson and in doing so they are likely to remember and comprehend the lesson.

At least one thing I learned in this course that will change my approach in the classroom is the necessity of teaching all subjects from a biblical worldview. In particular, Dr. Black’s discussion about the Biblical Integrating Core Model was very helpful and applicable for me in thinking about how to teach and model biblical truth in all content areas. I look forward to implementing this model to help my students see and savor the glory of Jesus Christ.

WOW! I have learned a lot!! My “take away” would be the inevitable changes in our society, that make the Christian educator’s role so very important on a daily basis!! A Christian Philosophy of education goes so much further than the subject matter. I teach math, which initially seems challenging to incorporate a Christian philosophy interwoven into the daily lessons.. but it is vital that I do this!! I MUST view each and every day’s lesson as an opportunity to instill in my students the urgency of understanding why they are created and the importance of claiming a Christian philosophy for their own lives. We live in an everchanging world, and it is only going to get more challenging for our students. I MUST be the Bible that they read each day. This generation of Christian schools and those to follow, are counting on its teachers to not just teach education, but teach a Christian education. I have been challenged and am excited to incorporate what I have learned into my daily lessons.

Through this course I have learned how important it is to build a solid biblical foundation. I will make more efforts to integrate scripture into our classroom lessons and daily discussions, by starting with a biblical integration approach during the planning stages of my lesson plans. I will be more intentional about my role as a mentor in passing down God’s truth, equipping my students to defend their faith, and encouraging them in their own walk with the Lord.
