Even if I don’t get promoted to a teaching position at my school, I will be prepared for the possible trials that I might face in the office when students ask big questions. I really appreciate how the foundation laid in the first lesson has been coherent with everything taught in the lessons that followed. This served as a good example of coherence in teaching that should be applied in our classrooms.

One of the things I want to change about my approach next year is to have more of a biblical intentionality and integration with everything we talk about. Even as little as classroom procedures and jobs, bringing it back to why there is order in things because God made the world with order and how He cares about the little details in things. I think this is a great resource to get Christian educator minds in the right place and spur us on.

I will plan on setting aside a few minutes at the beginning and at the end of course to allow the students to share their personal stories, problems or ask questions. This will help me to be able to build a stronger personal relationship with them, get to know them better and be able to minister to their needs much more effectively. I want to nurture them spiritually as well as buildthem up academically. When of personal connections are stronger they will open up to me a lot more.

Understanding that I have a calling from God to be an educator changes how I approach my work. My service at my school is divinely purposed and entrusted to me by God. As such, I will be more intentional about integrating my biblical Christian worldview into my teaching and interacting with the school community. This might mean taking extra time to prepare lessons, being more patient with challenging students, and with parents. Ultimately, I should serve as a Godly influence in the students’ lives, helping them grow and develop into the people God has called them to be.

Having taught Spanish for more than 20 years, I am now blessed with the opportunity next year to integrate Scripture and emphasis missions trips and serving the community. I also plan on sharing my story more with my students in the hopes of encouraging them to see Christ as a father and a savior for them, not just other people.
