I learned the importance of seeing student’s as fallen and in need of redemption. While this concept isn’t new to me, it will allow me to extend more grace to students.

We are exactly where we are as God has determined. He has entrusted us with His word and we are called to further His kingdom with it.

I appreciate the idea of thinking of students as disciples. In particular, you mentioned acknowledging and honoring ways that students are disciples. I would like to focus on ways to do this.

This course has reminded me to be even more focused and intentional to fulfill purpose of Christian academic instruction – to help students have a clear understanding of the answers to life’s big questions and to prepare them for success both now and for eternity.

After 40+ years, it’s not so much that I’ve come across things that will change what I do in the classroom. It’s more like nuances of how to navigate student actions, beliefs, the things they say, versus what they really believe – how to help them make sense of a Christian worldview from what they learn in school, compared to what they hear from their parents at home. This is becoming more and more the case as I see our students shifting from truly seeking a Christian education to our school just being a better option for them than public school. And that’s okay; at least we get them here and acquaint them with God’s Word.
