I learned the importance of integrating God’s word naturally in all aspects of my classroom. Biblical integration has been something I’ve struggled with my first two years of teaching, but I feel more prepared for the upcoming year now that I better understand its importance in all areas of a child’s life in and outside of a school setting.

I will try to expand the “nurture” aspect of my ministry to my students by creating more time outside of the classroom to build relationships, whether that is at lunch or at extracurriculars. I will also continue to work on engaging in more processing activities to help the students reach that next level in critical thinking when it comes to those “big life questions.”

I definitely have learned to integrate God’s Word into every lesson, to establish my students in Christian Philosophy, and to tackle the big questions of life using God’s Word as the foundation… To teach scripture to all of my students and to give them time to process God’s Word in connection with topics learned.

Most important to me is to plan in my units how I will integrate God’s word into my lessons.

All students need to have the sense that they are valued in the image of God, but also by teachers. When students feel valued, they are all held accountable, they are challenged academically. I will set the bar high and give lifelines to students who struggle with meeting the standards.
I must train my students in discernment to identify which philosophy is trying to cheat them and which fortify truth and faith in christ. I can design my lessons to teach the difference between the worldview behind the scientific theories discussed in course and the evidence, or lack thereof, for each. Then they will be better prepared for adversarial situations in university.
