First, I have encouragement. The instructor put into clear words many concepts I have noted over 40 years in Christian ed. I feel a much stronger desire to stand against the pushback and hostility that seems to be building in education in general.

I learned a lot about Christian philosophy and terminology and its application in education. For me personally, I would need to work in the area of carefully planning a coherent curriculum.

I loved the practical advice on how to include biblical integration in our unit plans. We are using CurriculumTrak, which has been a chore to complete but an absolute gift from God, but the tips on how to include it in daily lessons was enough for me to think, “Duh, Erin!” I need to have it in my face to remember. As an English teacher, biblical integration comes very naturally in literature, but it’s more difficult when in grammar units. I also am inspired to start outside mission trips for our older students. I did not get to go on any mission trips, and we have a wealth of opportunities right in our own town.

I will look for projects to help my students become more involved in ministry and discipleship.

I will give my students more time to process big questions. I was reminded that even though they are in second grade they are hearing about everything that is going on the world and we need to stop and process that.
