Share one or two things you learned in this course that will change your approach in the classroom.

In taking this course, it has reminded me of the importance of a personal testimony and to share with the students how God has worked in my life. Because I came to know the Lord as a 20year old, I remember who I was in my BC days and how selfish and horrible I was with other people. In coming to know Christ, He completely changed my heart towards people and gave me the love of serving others. I wouldn’t be a teacher if the Lord had not changed my heart. Also, it’s important to give time for student to share struggles they are having and put aside the academics to truly listen. It’s important to create an atmosphere that is safe for students to share and encourage each other in their faith.

Interacting between content, student, bible, and teacher in all lessons is something I will work to implement in more holistic ways.

One thing that I was encouraged and reminded to do throughout this course is to better involved the parents of my students in the classroom.
Another thing I was encouraged to do through this past lesson is to share my story (testimony) and how I came to be their teacher at their school.

This course cut through the feeling of isolation I had as a Christian educator in the public school system and then in the secular higher education space. This is a major gift because I am now aware of the experiences of others seeking to serve the Lord faithfully as His educators in the world and am a part of a community where I can learn, share, and grow.

I am encouraged in knowing that most Christian school teahers have taken this course. It is wonderful because now I know that most of us will have the same Biblical foundation. I was concerned before about the various doctrinal issues or personal beliefs that teachers must have and wondered how this would impact the students at Christian schools. Now that I see that we are all basically on the same page it gives me comfort and I also feel a fellowship now with othe teachers that I didn’t have before.
