I am a librarian and I read lots of books to the students. These books (especially fictional stories) usually have a theme/lesson, which makes it easy to naturally weave in a Biblical perspective. Students can process whether or not they believe the characters responded in a Christ honoring way. What is a Bible verse that could be the theme of this story? Etc.

It is very easy in social studies, as we study ancient civilizations and we always connect and compare religions, etc. For Reading/L.A., I do want to do more embedding there. Sometimes we do look at the characters in stories and compare them to Biblical characters or with Biblical truths.

Currently, I am using a reading curriculum that includes several moral stories, and occasionally Bible verses. I try to relate Bible stories to what we are reading on a regular basis.

I like to use natural God moments when the conversation turns that way. For example, today we were reading a story where the characters were bragging which led to a discussion of what God teaches about this concept.

In literature lessons I have compared characters responses to crisis situations with Biblical characters responses in similar circumstances- i.e., grief, fear, loneliness, etc.
