The goal of Biblical integration is to help students think biblically and critically about every subject. I have been in many classrooms where teachers ask questions like ,”How does this point to God?”, of a particular subject. Students then have to critically think and dig into scripture to find answers. I find this is a great way to teach students about asking questions and critically thinking about the world around them instead of taking everything at face value.

An overarching theme that I have in every course is that we are to do the best we can with the talents God has given us. I encourage students who have strong abilities to understand that God has given him these abilities to be used for His glory. I also teach them that their academic integrity is and will always be a part of their testimony.

I first of all start with my scope and sequence then my unit development using my biblical integration to guide me in teaching on a topic, ”value” which is one of the principles of art. I used Genesis 1:1-3, value deals with light and dark. the ‘darkness’ in creation refers to the darker value while the ‘light’ refers to the lighter value.

I am a Bible teacher so all of my course is biblical integration. My wife is our upper high school math teacher and she has done an amazing job of tying in the attributes of God to her lessons for her Algebra 2 and Calculus courses. She has the students find verses on each attribute of God they cover for the section. She calls these little assignments “God with Math.” At the end of the quarter she averages all of the daily grades together for a quiz grade. It is a way to incorporate the Bible into math regularly and to give those students who are not confident in their math skills a quiz grade they can look forward to.

Being a Bible Teacher the entirety of my Scope and Sequence (Lesson Plans too.) involve the incorporation of Biblical principles.
