In music class, we learn about the orchestra. Orchestra is a group of instruments especially one that has the strings, percussion, woodwind and brass sections. The whole idea of the orchestra is that you have instruments from different families being played together to make music. A bible principle here is unity in the body of Christ as seen in 1corinthians 14. Here, students get to understand that we all come from different backgrounds but we sure can work as one to make something great.

I usually ask questions to integrate Biblical principles into my lessons because I love it when my students make the connections themselves. I ask questions like 1. Is it important to God that we learn to add accurately? 2. Why is it important to God? 3. If we were the character in the story, how would God expect us to act and why? 4. The whale is a mammal, why did God put it in the ocean and not on land?

In addition to asking questions, I try to connect my lessons to a Biblical worldview (creation, mankind, etc.) and integrate my objective with a Biblical truth in relation to the worldview.

When teaching characteristics of the animal kingdom in science, I bring in biblical principles by telling students that God is all knowing and almighty. When he created the Blue Whale, which is a mammal, he decided to make its habitat the ocean because he knows the future from the beginning. He knows that no legs will be able to carry the weight of that creature if he is placed on land like most mammals do.

When we begin our number sense lessons, especially with number counting, I refer to how God instructed Abraham to count the stars and he was unable to because they are immeasurable. I let my kindergartners know that counting started from creation.

As a second-grade teacher, I incorporate biblical principles into my lessons through interactive activities. For example, we create timelines of biblical events and illustrate Bible verses that relate to the topics we are studying. I also make a point to respond to students’ questions with biblical answers, weaving God’s truth into our everyday conversations. This approach helps my students understand the relevance of Scripture in their lives.
