It is definitely an area which I need to learn more.

Through literature studies, discussions, and projects I get to discover where my students are in terms of their worldview. Everyone is in a different place in their walk with Christ, so this area of study allows for a lot of mentorship. In literature, there are always ways to discuss biblical principles and Scripture, particularly when discussing a character’s development, or maybe lack thereof. Larger symbolism and metaphors in a work typically lean biblical, and I love incorporating biblical allegory into my lessons. Zora Neale Hurston’s short story “Sweat” is a perfect lean into discussing the Beatitudes.
As someone who did not go to any Christian school until I began teaching at one two years ago, this is where I am trying to get better daily. I am excited to get into the Biblical Integration course after this one!
