Since I don’t really have an experience in this, I am guessing it should be a bit more difficult for some subjects such as Math and PE for example than others, but I have seen teachers intentionally taking the time to discuss about these things in their courses as well although not necessarily throughout all lessons. It is definitely an area which I need to learn more.

With my younger students in Kindergarten, I am constantly pointing us back to the point of all scripture- Jesus the Christ. We often talk about how he lived his life and what that means for us today, and how we should in turn act.

One thing I love about being an English teacher is teaching a plethora of literature. Through literature studies, discussions, and projects I get to discover where my students are in terms of their worldview. Everyone is in a different place in their walk with Christ, so this area of study allows for a lot of mentorship. In literature, there are always ways to discuss biblical principles and Scripture, particularly when discussing a character’s development, or maybe lack thereof. Larger symbolism and metaphors in a work typically lean biblical, and I love incorporating biblical allegory into my lessons. Zora Neale Hurston’s short story “Sweat” is a perfect lean into discussing the Beatitudes.
As someone who did not go to any Christian school until I began teaching at one two years ago, this is where I am trying to get better daily. I am excited to get into the Biblical Integration course after this one!

Science course is easy to discuss Creation and God’s marvelous handiwork. Social Studies always provides opportunities to talk about moral actions and being the hands and feet of Christ.

I like to use Bible verses in English course when we are looking for the parts of speech in a sentence . Then we discuss the verse and how we can apply it to our lives.
