I embed biblical principles in our science lessons. When we do The Creation, for example, we also add in the study of plants and animals. We then do science projects with plants, and we learn about the plants that were around in biblical times.

When the decisions made by the people in the story are not biblical, I include a verse explaining why we as Christians would behave a certain way in that situation.

Since I teach literature, it is easy to embed principles of godly character into our characterization studies. The Fruits of the Spirit come up often in discussion and we can look at Scriptural examples readily to compare them to the character’s flaws, etc. Another concept we’ve discussed recently is the similarities of early Native American literature, particularly creation narratives, with Scripture. Interestingly, there are many similarities, but students need to be in the Word to see them clearly. Some literature lends itself readily to such discussions.

In Spanish IV, we read the Bible in Spanish every Monday. In Spanish 1, students are learning the fruit of the Spirit in Spanish and describing attributes of Christians. In Spanish IV, we discuss alienation and how to better love and welcome people who are different from us. In Spanish IV, we practice sharing the Gospel in Spanish.

The curriculum chosen by my school does a good job of pointing to biblical principles. During social studies in 2nd grade the book does a great job of outlining how biblical principles shape our community and even government. We as a course further discuss what this looks like for us individually in our lives.
