Teaching in public school, one day I read my students a scripture, that day there was just a lot going on. After I read it , I ended it in prayer. I later had to meet with some very upset parents. I closed that meeting by telling me my faith in God brings me peace and strength.

The closest I remember was a middle school student asking a teacher why they as students can’t get into romantic relationships. The teacher responded by saying getting into a relationship is not a problem really, but that somethings are meant for certain ages. The teacher gave an example of a baby walking. Walking is not wrong, but it would be damaging to make a 6-months old child walk because the child has not developed the strong muscles for walking. So it is with relationships, middle/high school students still have a lot to learn about life before considering getting into a relationship. Life is a process.

While evangelizing in a marketplace last year, I encountered a Muslim man who threatened to throw me out of his shop, accusing me of preaching heresy. He argued that Jesus is not God and insisted that I refrain from saying otherwise in his shop. Remaining calm, I asked if he would allow me to show him proof from the Bible. He agreed but stated that he only believed in the Old Testament. After promising to use only the Old Testament, I shared a few verses and asked some thoughtful questions.

As his workers began listening and attempting to answer the questions, he became agitated and ordered me to leave. I didn’t respond with anger. Instead, I prayed silently for God to open his eyes to the truth someday, and I left his shop peacefully.

Listening actively to the other person’s concerns or objections. Understanding their perspective can help you address their questions more effectively and demonstrate genuine care for them as a person.
