Share one or two ways you or someone you know has lovingly responded to an attack on your/their Christian faith.

I have many Muslim friends. They do not attack my faith, nor do I attack theirs, but we do have discussions where we feel free to share our beliefs about God (the trinity), Jesus (as God), His death and resurrection, and the future. I don’t need to attack them. I need to share the truth- God will take care of changing people’s hearts. I have been able to engage in wonderful discussions, share God’s Word and remain friends with these women.

I immediately think of students my husband’s aunt told me about last year. She teaches in a public school and it was around Christmas time. A conversation about Jesus began during recess, and a boy told his friends that his dad said “all that is made up” and he believed his dad. The next day during recess, a girl who was a part of the previous day’s conversation brought in her Bible, said “let me tell you about Jesus and show you that He is real” and began reading about Jesus to her classmate. They did this for several days after as well. She did not argue with the boy, she simply stood in her faith and took that opportunity to teach her classmate the truth.

Whenever I am attacked, I try very hard to just respond in love. People cannot change or make good choices without the Holy Spirit. To them, my faith probably seems like madness. But because I have the Holy Spirit, I CAN respond with understanding, patience, and love. So while I defend my faith, I also try to make a point of never getting angry or offended. A true exchange of ideas will happen without the screaming and name-calling, which is all our society reverts to nowadays (it seems), even among Christians.

I recently had someone I know very well attack my Christian faith. First, I responded by just being quiet. I wanted to listen to what they had to say and was constantly praying for God’s Spirit to speak for me, as they spoke. I ended up sharing my testimony with them, and let them know why my faith was / is important to me personally. I did not mention a bunch of facts or try to enter into an argument with them… I let them know that I would not force them to believe anything, but felt the need to simply share what God has and had done in my life personally. After respectfully listening to them, they respectfully listened to me. I surrendered the conversation to Him. I continue to pray for this person daily.

I have not seen this yet but am inspired to hear my students talk about their faith openly to eachother.
