I witnessed a friend of mine have her faith challenged. She remained very calm and stated that she has a strong faith in her beliefs and in living in the image of God. She simply listened and then asked the other person to do the same. She is guided by the Scripture.

I listen in calmness as I know that only God can settle the matter. I will now say God bless you and take my leave for solitude to pray. I have learned never to argue when being attacked verbally regarding my Christian faith.

Seek to understand his or her perspective. If there is a need seek forgiveness for any wrong doing against them or their faith by Christians. Engage them to understand your faith and make known the mysteries of Christ. This must be done over time with patient love and kindness with the goal of showing them Christ not winning an arguement.

The most important thing to do is remain calm. We have to argue not as the world does, with anger and violence, we have to respond with love and respect regardless of the other person’s opinion.

When my faith is being attacked I would remain silent until the Lord directs me to respond in meekness of spirit, so that I don’t speak with anger. Sometimes it makes me cry especially when the accusations are coming from my own family/relatives about my faith. I have experienced people challenging my faith while I was going through a period of affliction where I could not walk and I was in constant pain every day. I was asked to go to another god because they taught that my God had left me in affliction but I stand on the word of God that he will be with me in the time of trouble.
