I have an extensive educational background in mental health and education. I had no idea where God and this education was leading. I was not called to teacher, my direction has always been mental health and counseling, but I always felt a tug to stay in the education field. My experience is in the public school system, yet my children always attended Christians school. Finally, when I was feeling very discouraged and felt like I had no direction, God opened a door for my to serve as administration and school counselor for a Christian school. All of the paths linked and a divine peace came over me. God was using all my past experiences and education for His purpose.

As soon as I retired from a public school where I worked for 29 years, God called on me to start a new adventure and teach at a Christian school.

God kept calling me into teaching. Numerous friends told me I should be a teacher. They told me it was a word from God. I laughed in their face, as I clung to my dream job. Then, as I was looking for kindergarten options for my oldest, I suggested our nearby Christian elementary school teach students computer science. She challenged me, suggesting *I* should teach students computer science. And so, I did. I share this story with my students.

God closed all the doors pertaining to public school. We sought out a private school for our oldest son, and I got a job teaching where he ended up attending. A couple years later God called our family to move 3 hours away and opened the doors for me to work at a new thriving and growing Christian school.

I am a trained medical professional (Physician Assistant). I had always wanted to be in medicine since I was a child. I also always felt called to be in ministry. I was struggling with how much my work was taking me away from my family. My husband and I were concerned about how we were going to handle family dynamics with our 5 year old about to start Kindergarten at the Christian school 25 minutes away, and both of us with such demanding careers. At that time he was traveling a few times a year, and it would be very difficult for me to make clinic hours work around her school pick-up and drop-off (not to mention the other children having to get to the home daycare). It was very heavy on our hearts. One Sunday in church the thought popped into my head, “look for a job at Lenawee Christian School.” I was thinking perhaps there would be a cleaning position or something that I could do. I pulled up their job listings and God was speaking to me in that moment. They were looking for a high school Biology teacher. Although, I was not a licensed teacher I did have a Bachelor’s in Biology and had been adjunct faculty at a college nearby. My husband called the head of school for me the next day since I was in surgery all day. The head of school said he would very much like to meet. The rest is history. There were some concerns for our family taking such a substantial pay cut, but we knew God was opening doors for our family and allowing me to be involved in ministry. So we leapt…and here we are four years later. I love teaching science through a Biblical worldview.
