My students are aware of my story. I was a Christian school parent that was called to service in the classroom and on the basketball court. The short version is simply, God ordered my steps.
I am profoundly grateful that he did.

I love sharing my story with students! It allows me to share what the Lord has done for me. I graduated college in May of 2020, and COVID had completely derailed my post-grad plans. I ended up withdrawing from a graduate program and worked in a coffee shop while living with my parents. After over a year, the Lord brought an opportunity to work at my alma mater. It was completely unexpected and completely God. Working in this Christian school has completely changed the trajectory of my life.

I have taught in both public and private Christian schools. After my mother passed away, I took time for myself to grow as an educator. When I returned to the classroom, a friend from church introduced me to my current school. The interview was far different from any other one I had taken part in. The administrators left me with the impression that I was fully in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and I knew at a moment that I had found my home as an educator.

I started 24 years ago teaching in a Christian Preschool. Six years ago I stepped up and took on the directorship of the preschool at the school I now teach at. Being a director was a 10-12 hour a day, 6-7 days a week job. I decided I needed to make a change and felt led when I found out the Art teachers job was open to ask for that change. I had gone to college to teach art, but God led me down a long path to get to this wonderful place teaching students art K-8th. A lot of the students I had taught PreK or had been the director while they had been there, were always curious why I wanted that change., I got to share how God may lead us places we never thought we would go.

I’m heading into my third year at a Christian school and never thought I would be here. I started my teaching career in an urban public school. After 4 years and feeling burned out, I was thankful when presented with the opportunity to be a stay at home mom to raise our daughters. Once they started school, I was ready, and eager, to work outside of the home. I had a great part time job at a local running store until Covid hit. All but those employees deemed essential were laid off. After searching for a new job and being faced with difficulty, I went back into the classroom as a substitute teacher and loved it! While I had intended to remain a building sub in our local public school, I came across the job posting for a 6th grade teacher at my current school. I applied and accepted the job two days before new teachers were expected to show up. I know this is where God has guided my family because without the “insider” knowledge I have of our school, we would have been more hesitant to pull our youngest daughter from public school while she was struggling.
