Techniques rely upon self and not the spirit

I say amen! It is more encouraging to sit with someone who cares, but has no answers than to be fixed without care. I have experienced both. I value the gift it is when someone joins me where I am, and cares and points me to a better hope. It is far more desirable than, answers. Only God has real answers that satisfy my soul.

I agree with this statement. Soul care is about relating because we are incapable of giving technique to a better life. We need the God whom we relate to working through us. we need to turn our chairs and curiously learn the unseen story, the battle, of the soul. Literally entering into the depths of a person soul. Genuine comes from relationship while technique is shallow and doesn’t not go deep into a person soul

Yes. Soul care is about getting to know someone’s interior world, about being curious about where they are as God’s fallen image bearer. How have their capacities to relate, desire, perceive, choose and feel been perverted by foolishness? It’s about walking alongside with them on their journey. Then by the Holy Spirit’s power help them to see their brokenness and to see God as their greatest desire and need.
This requires supernatural power, not good techniques.

I totally agree. I think it is so true if we do not genuinely relate to others and be more interested in what is really going on in their lives, we tend to go down the path of trying too hard to come up with solutions from our experiences and not theirs. We are not listening to other’s heart and try too hard to rely on our own interpretation which for a lot of times are not accurate and discourage others to share as well.
