I tend to believe that removing any of the 4 words would leave the prayer a bit incomplete and sort of deny our Lord and Savior his proper dues. It’s extremely important to express our feelings of adoration to Him. Confession is extremely vital in learning to turn away from our sin. Thanksgiving and supplication our both highly important because every relationship is made of give and take and God delights in providing to his children, as well as being exalted and thanked for his many blessings he gives to us.

I think removing one of these from our prayer time would not be taking advantage of all that God is to us. If I remove adoration I am not respecting and recognizing God’s holiness and power in all things. If I remove confession, not only am I failing to recognize my failures, but also His willingness to forgive. If I remove thanksgiving, then I am showing myself to be ungrateful for all the Lord has done. If I remove supplication, I am not recognizing the fact that God desires to supply me with good things that are within His will and purpose.

If I removed any one of these, my prayers would not be ineffective, and my praise and worship would not be genuine. I cannot have one without the other because they all complement each other.

Removing adoration from prayers would lead to a lack of reverence and worship, focusing more on personal requests and less on God’s greatness. Likewise, without confession, thanksgiving, and supplication, our prayers would miss key elements of repentance, gratitude, and seeking God’s guidance.
