The acrostic ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. What would happen if each were removed from devotions? (For example, what would happen if adoration were removed from your prayers?)

If adoration was removed we just be praying about us. We need to recognize God and all he has done to put us at piece. If any other part was removed we just be praying 8n circles.

When we missed or ignored one of the aspct of our prayer (ACTS), I think we will miss the essential of our prayer.

The absence of Adoration would demonstrate a lack of respect and praise for God. It is imperative that we let Him know how much we love and appreciate Him as the prelude to our confession, request, confidence, etc. Without Confession we wouldn’t honest and forthcoming, letting God know that we are aware of our own personal role in a sin that has been committed. Without Thanksgiving in our devotions we would not be expressing our gratitude for God and all that He is, including his unmerited favor. Supplication is crucial as well to demonstrate our humility, openness and readiness for whatever God wishes to express to us.

Adoration reminds us to first and foremost focus our thoughts and prayers on WHO GOD IS. Having said that however, I realize that I often to straight to confession and supplication in my prayers. This exercise has reminded me to get back to ACTS as a way of honoring God in my thoughts and prayers.

The use of the acronym ACTS for prayer life helps us to fully appreciate and acknowledge God’s relationship with us. He must first be lifted up for who he is, and we need to recognize that he is perfect, and we are not. He gives us our daily bread so having a heart of gratitude should take priority over the next ask. God is not a vending machine. To remove any one of these would put our eyes on self and not on God the Father.
