The acrostic ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. What would happen if each were removed from devotions? (For example, what would happen if adoration were removed from your prayers?)

I think we would miss out on who God is, what He has done, what he has promised and what he is capable of doing. We deserve nothing and he gives us more than we need. Because we can’t comprehend all of God, we need to share our love and awe and thankfulness of Him, with Him to continue growing in our faith and relationship with God.

If I skip adoration, then I am not acknowledging who God is. If I skip confession, then I’m not acknowledging my sin and my need for rescue – my heart will stay callous with pride and self-sufficiency. If I skip thanksgiving then I am not acknowledging (or receiving with the correct heart posture) the blessings God has given me. If I skip supplication then I’m not acknowledging that I need his help.

It seems that we should want and truly feel that we need to pray to the Father in every way possible, and that by leaving out any of these would lead to a lesser relationship with our Abba and could lead us down a less spiritually fulfilling path and relationship with our Creator.
