The acrostic ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication. What would happen if each were removed from devotions? (For example, what would happen if adoration were removed from your prayers?)

Each of these parts helps form a complete conversation with the Lord. Taking any away leaves us lacking a proper perspective of who He is, and why we’re talking with Him in the first place.

It would not match up with the way Jesus taught us to pray, therefore we wouldn’t be following His commands…. and we’d be completely centered on ourselves. Very easy to do unfortunately.

Our devotions are the time that we have a personal time with God. When we talk to our besties, we tell them how they are, how we feel and what we desire etc. The conversation is not complete without mentioning everything to them. ACTS is similar to that. Removing any one of them will not make our conversation complete. Without Adoring, Confessing, Thanksgiving we will always feel that we are able, and we are powerful, and we will feel all that we have is because we worked for it. God will never be part of our lives or our daily thoughts because we will be the captain and author of our lives. This is not the case, we owe everything to God because all we are is because of Him. Our relationship will never grow stronger without the ACTS.

It each were removed from prayer then I believe my prayer life would be fruitless. I don’t think I could build intimacy with God without ACTS.

If you want your communication with God to feel fulfilling, each part is required. Adoration shows our understanding of the part He plays in our lives as our God. Confession allows us to state our sins and ask for forgiveness. Thanksgiving gives us the opportunity to appreciate everything He has done for us in the past, currently, and for His responses to our prayers. Supplication is almost like a P.S. in a letter, another need or prayer you need to mention.
