I totally agree with the lecturer’s statement and perspective on this topic. The bible states in Proverbs 4:7 that “Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get and understanding”. Christian Philosophy is the expression (understanding) of the believer’s true love for God’s wisdom in all things, over any other form of philosophical theory or methodological approach, which winds up being utter empty rhetoric, without Him. Since all things begin with Him, all things exist because of Him, therefore ultimately for Him.

I agree with the statement,” that only a believer is able to truly love wisdom.” I believe this to be true because if you go to the Word of God it states that He only gives wisdom. In James 1:5 it states that if you only ask for wisdom God will give it. Wisdom is a gift that is available to all, but you must first ask and then you will receive. We must humble ourselves first and turn to God. He will then freely give it to those who believe. I believe that those who humbly receive will turn and use this wisdom for His glory and to reach others for Him.

I strongly agree with the lecturer. We must distinguish between knowledge and wisdom. We also must let the Bible define these terms for us. Since the Bible defines the fear of the Lord as the beginning of wisdom, it is consistent with a biblical worldview to say only a believer is able to truly love wisdom as God created us to do so.

Also, I would point out what Warren Wiersbe has said on this matter. He has pointed out that we live in an age of great knowledge but not in an age of great wisdom for there is little fear of the Lord.

I agree with her. I think that only a believer truly desires the wisdom at comes from above. I think there is wisdom available through God’s general revelation to mankind – his image in all people that he created as image-bearers. But without wisdom from the Word of God, it will fall short.

I agree with the speaker because God is the originator of love and within one of God’s inherent holy qualities is love. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love” (1 John 4:7-8, ESV).
