It is significant in that we come to know and understand that God’s love is patient and God’s desire is that we have a restored relationship with Him.

The Old Testament Story is significant to us because it shows how Gods People have sinned against him and to teach us righteous living so we will learn how to please God by living a righteous life.

It demonstrates that there is still hope for sinners who are able and willing to repent and turn away from their previous sinful lifestyle, similarly to how Jesus tells the adulterer “Go and sin no more”. The pattern of people wishing to follow God and then rebelling is repeated constantly throughout the bible.

This is very significant because it shows us how God provides us with his patient forgiveness over and over again. And shows us how God never stops pursuing our hearts even when we continue to rebel against him time and time again.
