Quite simply, God is showing to His people that He is ready to forgive them if they will start living righteous, godly lives

The storyline of God reaching out towards us, rebellious people, in love is significant because it shows us the grace and mercy of God that leads us to the birth of Christ. It shows the ways that we have violated his love and the path back towards his truth and righteousness that we ought to submit to.

It’s important because if He didn’t love us, He wouldn’t pursue us. It tells us God cares about His creation.

It is significant because we sinners needed God’s redemption from our sinful behaviors. In the OT, God showed himself to be faithful in reaching out to us, despite our failing. God didn’t stop loving us and therefore there is hope.

God created us in his image so our way of living aliens with his character. Since sins entered into our nature, God is seeking to restore a relationship with his people he created by showing His scale of love. The Old Testament is a significant book because every part of it shows us His love by guiding and protecting His people, being patient to watch us grow, and forgiving us under all sorts of circumstances in those times. It still teaches us today.
