It’s important because oftentimes, we view the OLD Testament as “NO GRACE”. But indeed, the Old Testament displays that God’s grace and mercy existed way before Christ.
It’s also important because we get to see Yahweh’s personality, nature, and attributes. We get to see the FATHER. When I read the New Testament, I learned about Jesus & teachings, which of course come from the Father. But when I read the Old Testament, I got to know the Father that is in heaven, firsthand. The Old Testament is also important, outside of getting to know the Father, Yahweh, but it paves the way for us to understand the WHY. Why did Jesus come? And then it is important because it affirms Jesus’ coming and his teachings. -
It is important because we learn who God is, how He acts toward us, and why Jesus was ultimately sent into this world. God is love, and He acts out of this love toward us.

Because we have to realize how hard we have sinned and how unfathomable God’s love is, that He has planned thoroughly even right after the first fall, for all human beings to the generations to come.

Sin not only alienated Adam and Eve but it affected all humanity. The Old Testament story ia about the plan of God to rebuild the relation between God and the people He created to love Him.
