So we ourselves can rebuild our relationship with God, and in turn help others to find their way back to Gods love.

It’s signifiance is to show us that even in the stories of the OT it shows he is a forgiving God and he wanted all people to listen and obey for their good. But of course being rebellious was easier to do than to follow Him. He doesn’t want us to follow that same road of the OT, but instead look upon it as a road map of what not to do. Trust Him for guidance, direction, supplication, understanding so that we can be sure we are on the right path.

It shows God’s love for us in that He loved us when we did not love him.

Because we are the same! We learn so much in how the people constantly fail to please God and to live up to His desires, how God makes a way for the sinful to come to Him, and how he graciously and repeatedly forgives and restores them. Through all of this, we see how he cares for them, that He is present, how He provides for them, and how He intervenes for them. All of which is very relevant to every moment of our own lives.
