God’s heart to reach out in love and rebuild relationship with a rebellious people is the same today. Without understanding the OT, we cannot understand God’s unrelenting love and grace for sinners today.

First of all, because God is love. Israel is God’s people and to them and through them God displays His love, and patience. It also shows God’s faithfulness, that even though Israel is uncommitted to Him, God’s commitment and faithfulness never fails.

This is very important becuase without that, man will be completely lost in sin and condemn becuase. That has providd a way for man to be saved and oncemore enjoy a peacefull relationship and union with God when life on earth is done.

It is significant because the rebellion of the people in the OT is not unlike that of today. And we also learn that God is patient with us today as He was with the Israelites.
