Understanding how the New Testament fits together is important. The books of this testament are grouped in such a way as to make it easier to understand the life of Jesus, the beginnings of the church and their struggles, and the ultimate victory of Christ that is coming. From this we can see that the New Testament is truly the inspired Word of God and not just another section of a good book. It was carefully constructed in such a way as to provide guidance and understanding to Christians, both then and now.

I would get a better understanding of how books refer to each other, and how things occurred chronologically.

It is important to pull back and see the bigger picture in the new testament. This helps us learn the flow of the ministry and who the apostles are talking to and why. It is better to organize the historical events along with some chronology instead of looping the whole story together in different time periods.
