I would like to write encouraging notes for my students. I would like to pull students from study hall for find a less busy time to tell them they’re doing really well and I’m proud of them. I would like to reach out to parents more often with positive feedback about my students.

Practices I currently have in place are praying for students. I pray for them during my quiet time throughout the week, but we also share prayer and praises during homeroom then spend time praying for one another. Additionally, anytime a student comes to me, whether with genuine concerns or just to chat, I give this student my complete attention.

This year I’d like to add sending positive notes to the students and encourage them to do the same with their classmates.

I make sure students know when I’m available to meet with them and regularly encourage them to take advantage of that should they ever need help or encouragement of some kind. I also regularly inform their parents as to what we’re doing in course (even at the high school level) so that they can benefit from their parents’ investment in their life.

    1) Individual “Get-to-Know-You” meetings

    2) Attend students’ extracurricular activities and chat with them about the next day.
